Heavy Rain
« on: March 08, 2010, 05:58:22 PM »
I never knew playing with a kid in a see-saw in a video game would make me smile. Man, Heavy Rain is pretty awesome.

Its a game where you shave and brush your teeth.

I think about it to take my mind off the fact I was diagnosed with Cancer.

It's a PS3 game from Quantic Dream, in which you control four different characters who all get mixed up with a serial killing case: one is a private eye, one an FBI agents, one is a reporter and one is a dad who's trying to save his son. It's a very cinematic game and uses a lot of quick time events, but the story is good and the choice of freedom is very impressive. There are multiple endings and everything you do affects the game.

Got one or two of your characters killed? No problem: they'll stay dead and you'll just play as the other characters. The story will change but it's still okay. It's really beautiful, while still grotesque. It's actually rated 18 over here which means it's not really for children, which I can very well understand. It's still awesome.

Cool!  My friend has a game called Indigo Prophecy which sounds a lot like this.  You only play as two characters I think though.

I'll see if I can get my hands on this game, it sounds aw-  I don't have a PS3.  Never mind.

I think HR and IP were made by the same developers.

Indigo Prophecy, aka Fahrenheit in Europe, is made by the same people that made Heavy Rain. :D

Reasons I hate the internet:

I was reading the comments on an article entirely unrelated to this game, and I think I had it spoiled for me.
And of course, the only way to find out if it was or not is to spoil it for sure.

Damn you, internets.

>_> Thank goodness I wasn't spoiled. I finished the game last night, which pretty much meant that I was in bed at 5 AM while I had to get up at 8:15 AM this morning. It was worth it.

I also played the first DLC chapter, The Taxidermist, which I got already thanks to pre-ordering the CE version. It was pretty awesome too, even though the playthrough took something like 20-30 minutes. Of course, there's something like 5 different endings to it but it still feels like a ripoff. Or would feel if I had payed for it.

Obviously is was a question. But you already know you're not the only one, which is where I come to ask "What do you mean 'the only one'?"

Damn, now I want to play this game............................
If PS3's were still backwards compatible, then I would have gotten one, but I so much money just to play so few games?

They aren't backwards compatible? WHAT?  Sony is clearly retarded.

I still have my PS2, it's boss.  Not too worried about getting a PS3 anytime soon.

In fact, I don't have an Xbox 360, but I have a Wii.

I should probably get the next generation of thingies when they come out.  :P

I know.

The original PS3's had both gen. compatibility, then to cut costs they made them only PS3/PS2 then to cut costs they made them only play PS3.
I predicted with in the next year PS3's will only play Blue ray DvD's.

My PS3 plays PS1 games but not PS2. But it's okay because I got a PS2 sitting next to PS3.

I would much rather play everything on one, then need both of them. I already have 2 systems in my room, I dont need ANOTHER 2.

Well yeah, I get your point. It's just that I don't mind having multiple consoles because I pretty much love to play them. I'm thinking about getting a Dreamcast next.

But yeah, it would be excellent if the PS3 played PS2 games too. My PS2 is having both controller port and AV cable problems so I don't know how much longer I can enjoy playing with it. Even though those problems have been apparent for a few years now.

You could always try to get the original PS3 model cabable of playing PS2 games on eBay. However, that model is known to have the YLOD so I wouldn't do it myself.
