Actually, I'm gonna have to rescind (however it's spelled) on my sign-up, I'm VERY busy now, lots of research and writing to be done. Sorry, hope it goes well. May keep track in the dead thread.

Responses bolded because I'm feeling too busy to quote this all.

Balance issues ahoy!

Let's start with the big one: The mafia is outgunned, and quite badly so.  There is one more role on the Town's side than the Mafia (Even if that extra role is redundant, it's still an easy way to unite the Town), and that's not even counting whatever new powers Scott might get when Gideon, Roxie, or Todd are lynched.  ((Speaking of, what powers DOES he get?))

HPs.  Scott, in general, is supposed to be kind of useless at first.
Now then, onto more specific examples.

Quote
Wallace Wells - Guess who's drunk! Wallace is the town’s source of information, and can find out one player’s role.  Unfortunately, Wallace is frequently drunk, and only has a 20% chance of receiving the correct investigation.

This by itself is fine.  It's basically a reverse investigation.  People who come up Town should be lynched, people who show as Mafia are more likely to be Town.

Quote
Gideon Gordon Graves - That's just the kind of guy I am!"Gideon alters memories through subspace, and as such, appears in investigations as a vanilla town-aligned player.

Here's the bigger issue.  This hinders Gideon more than it helps him, because the only investigation is a reverse investigation.
Misworded, sorry.  Gideon should appear in any correct investigation as a vanilla townie.  Which, given Wallace's more drunken tendencies, will make him appear as "mafia" 80% of the time.

Quote
Todd Ingram - Tell it to the cleaning lady on Monday! Can use vegan powers to carve messages into the moon, which are visible to everyone during the next night phase.

The mafia already knows each other, any messages left would be a simple taunt, or WIFOM at best, and near-useless.
Todd's not actually supposed to be useful.  I don't remember why; perhaps the mafia was over-powered and we never got around to fixing it, and perhaps we're just stupid.  I honestly can't recall.

Quote
Roxie Richter - You punched my boob! Prepare to die! Roxie uses her subspace ninja skills to dodge into the subspace when targeted by abilities.

This is the only one that's marginally useful.  I'm going off a few assumptions here, so correct me if I'm wrong on any of them, but as I understand it, an investigation on Roxie will simply turn up no result, a giant red flag that this person is Roxie.  Second is that your interpretation of "targeted" includes targeted by the randomizer, nullifying Scott's potential kill on her.  Third is that Ramona isn't told if her power's successful or not, allowing Roxie to still send in a request and NOT be caught by Ramona in the process.

She's still easily caught by Wallace's investigation, and even if he's not told between the distinction of him being roleblocked, and him simply getting no results, whoever he's targeted that night is going to become a prime mafia suspect.

Quote
Knives Chau, 17 Years Old - My name is Knives Chau, and I'm a Scottaholic!  - When Knives is lynched, instead of dying, she converts to a vanilla townie. She doesn't get a Mafia list, but can still send in a hit.

If the rest of the Mafia is informed of who Knives is, they're almost certainly going to hit her.  The condition states that she (And Natalie/Envy) only convert if they're lynched.  Since the Town has to lynch her, unless Scott somehow manages to kill her with his power, then if the Mafia doesn't hit her, the Town will gain a huge ally at the same time the Mafia loses one.  On the other hand, if the Mafia hits Natalie, she doesn't switch, always helpful to the Town.

This should have been in the power description; I'd forgotten to add this.  Thank you for pointing this out.  The mafia should not know Knives at the start of the game.

This isn't to say that the Town is without flaws.

Scott Pilgrim - Gains powers as evil exes are lynched
The best fighter in the province! - Scott has a 15% chance of hitting a random target. He cannot hit himself.

This will always benefit the Mafia more than the Town, because the Town always has greater numbers.  ((If they don't, the game's over.))  Also, when is the role made?  Day, Night, or every phase?

Scott notes above

Both Ramona and Kim's roleblocking powers are pointless, and they're better off not using them, in general.  No point in canceling Todd's powers, Roxie's can't BE canceled, and it's the Town's best interest to not cancel Gideon's power.  IMHO, the best thing for Kim to do would be roleclaim N0 and unite the town roles.  Even if she's counterclaimed, that's a free mafioso out in the open.

Oh, and with 11 roles in play, this simply should NOT be played with less than 20 people.  With that many roles, and too few players, it basically becomes "Sound off your role and we'll lynch duplicates."

If we're really low on sign-ups we can cut roles, but the minimum is currently 20. Ideally we'd have more than 20, but..you know how that is.

I'll talk with Furtz about the rest of this tomorrow.
